The GPI Modified Lower Timing Gear for Gen V LT Engines addresses the snout radius fitment issues when using an OEM lower timing gear. As you can see, most common aftermarket cranks utilize a radius on the connection between the snout and the front main journal. However, the OEM lower timing gear is flat. This can cause a fitment issue resulting in increased pressure to the timing gear which will result in cracking and/or failure of the timing gear.
Pictured below, we have modified an OEM lower timing gear with a chamfered edge for proper fitment when using an aftermarket crank.
