Description

The Cometic MLS gasket is comprised of three layers of Stainless Steel. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on bothsides with a flouroelastomer rubber based material (Viton)designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealingenvironments, load conditions and surface finishes. The Vitoncoating is heat resistant to 250° C or 482° F.The center or shim layer of the gasket is comprised of anuncoated Stainless Steel layer, which can be varied toaccommodate multiple thickness requirements. The MLSgasket is ideal for both aluminum heads to cast iron blocks and aluminum heads to aluminum blocks.

The composition of MLS will also withstand the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. No re-torque is necessary. By design the MLS gasket promotes an even torque load across the sealing surface allowing for measurable reduced bore distortion.

    With pistons 0.005” below deck and a 0.028” gasket gives 0.033” quench or piston to head clearance. Given your experience, will the pistons contact the head on a street 6.8L LT1 engine with Mahle power pak forged pistons, 0.0045” piston-to-bore clearance, 4” stoke, Callie’s rods and crank, 7200 rpm redline?

    A Have not ran that combo so I can't say with 100% certainty but I would anticipate not but that quench is rather tight it would be best to go with the .040 gasket if possible and mill off the cylinder head what is needed in order to reach your compression goals

    A Around 13.5:1 and if you're at 7.850 now and you subtract .040 off the head and a difference of .024 from the stock thickness .052 gasket that's .064 total difference 7.850 - .064 = 7.786 but closer to 7.800 or 7.775
