Designing the MAX Package

The restrictive factor we encounter when taking the LS3 / L99 beyond 500 rwhp is “piston to valve” clearance and intake manifold.

The MAX Project resolves both issues.

We designed a 12 degree cylinder head – which enables us to run more camshaft and less combustion chamber on these engines – without having to resort to fly cutting valve reliefs in the pistons – so we found the perfect compromise.

This head flows over 400 CFM intake and 270 exhaust featuring a 2.180 intake valve and a 1.59 exhaust.

The intake runner remains a reasonable size for a 376CID engine and allows us to solve the intake manifold issue by allowing the use of a LS7 style unit.

The Verdict

Here are the results of our test vehicle.

This was a 1LE car with 1-7/8″ long tube headers, air box, and a leading competitors Stage 3 camshaft package.

The graph shows the baseline of 453 rwhp, and 519rwhp on 93 pump gas…

…and 542rwhp with the MAX package on E-85.

What’s Next?

We have several builds in the works, and look forward to sharing them with you!

So a few questions for you??
I currently have a stage 2 LMS set up on my 11 Camaro SS. Dod deleted, 3000 stall converter, Deep trans pan and a SHIT tune.
The car stalls at certain times when coming to a slow or stop. Cannot seem to figure it out. I’m sick of it just thinking about it. Rant over. Sorry. So will this Max Perf package work with DOD delete kit? Will I be set up nicely with the stall and 3:91 gears in it?
Do you guys port the LS7 intake? Does it help if so? And what will the tuning and tuner cost me? I’m pretty sure that the current tune has the tcu and ecu locked. So I’ll need a new set up. I’m in Michigan and I’m pretty sure I cannot make it to you guys. Will your tune be good to go? Or can it be data logged for a more precise tune? I’d be running 93 oct and driving the car more so on a daliy habit. Not so much at a drag strip.
Now not sure what will happen with this Pandemic kicking us all hard.
    Thank you

I am installing a Maggie to my L99 this fall so I don’t need an intake, do you offer a head and cam package for my situation?
